Dark verging on medieval The The meets Jah Wobble
with a little dash of The Cramps oh and a smidge of Jesus! (and The Mary Chain)
The highly individual possessed voice, a curious cross between
Captain Beefheart and Iggy Pop - pure raw energy against a backdrop
of dramatic scathing guitars and mesmeric heartbeat pulse that pumps
through your cranium, tantalizing and intriguing as it weaves it’s weird,
atmospheric web

TURN BLUE were formed in the winter of 1985 and went on to release five albums on the Dead Happy Records label. The first release, Tourniquet Blue was a powerful post punk apocalyptic tour de force featuring the controversial track - Hallelujah - and original members - Dave Arnold: voice and drum programs Paul Mitton: bass & Rob Marshall on guitar. Tourniquet Blue was featured on the Turn It Up show on Radio Sussex and received some rave reviews and commendations, Mike Bradshaw (Juice 107.2) presenter from the show asked, “…is Dave Arnold the reincarnation of Aleister Crowley…?” and The Anti-Nowhere League praised the band for their reminiscent Doors sound. Regular live performances at the Crypt Club and Pig In Paradise in Hastings and a guest appearance with The Batfish Boys at Brighton’s Zap Club, although attracting the attention of various Indie Labels, a major deal failed to materialise. Rob Marshall left the band and went on to manage dance maestro Gary Clail and currently Asian Dub Foundation. Slimmed down to a duo Dave and Paul continued the spirit of Turn Blue whilst refining the distinctive bass sound and Paul’s additional guitar role complementing Dave’s adrenaline - charged vocal delivery. Continuing to play live with the aid of sampled backing tape accompaniment the second album, Scandal Angle featured guest musicians and led to the new line-up featuring Rob Bowman on drums and Pete Sears on bass. Pete was replaced for the sessions with Keith Rodway (The Cast, The Good Missionaries, DDK) on bass. The sessions for the third album, Ear Lash was a tense and transitional time for the band and Paul Mitton left to concentrate on new ventures. New members John Carter: guitar and Noel Hendrick: bass kept the Turn Blue bandwagon rolling leading to a more complex sound enhanced by the engineering and production by Dave Arnold at the newly refurbished Sonic Sound Studio. Gigs to promote the release in Hastings and Brighton and further features on Turn It Up, continued the popularity of the band and led to the formation of a new venture for Arnold, Carter and Hendrick with the addition on bass of Ben Robbins (Sundog, Scarecrowz, Louis & Jem Turpin ). The Addled Family were conceived! Noel left the band to join the reformed Splodgenessabounds. The recording of the fourth Album, Hedonist Swing featured Dave Arnold, John Carter and Ben Robbins. The Addled Family continued to be a major live attraction and in 1990 Turn Blue were laid to rest only to be resurrected by Dave a decade later for the recording of the magical 7 Songs CD. Lifeforce includes digital remixes of the Ear Lash and Hedonist Swing CDs by Colin Gibson. The 7 Songs CD has also been remixed with additional tracks entitled - Love Is The Law and is available from www.VIBEZONE.co.uk - cat.no: DHVZDC56
